The Importance of Writing

Don't Miss Your Chance at Fame and Fortune

Ask your teacher to visit this site between Jan. 1 and Feb. 28 to submit your essay.

Writing is one of the most important skills to master. Not only is writing essential for college and career, but learning to write clearly also helps you develop your thinking skills. To be successful at analytical writing, you must support your arguments with evidence found in the text and clearly convey information to the reader. It is this kind of writing that allows you to build knowledge, deepen understanding, and develop informed opinions.

With this in mind, The Atlantic and the College Board have collaborated to create this annual contest. The focus of this contest will change each year to align with the introduction of a newly redesigned AP course and exam.

UTSA Alumni Scholarship

UTSA Alumni Scholarship

The UTSA Alumni Association supports UTSA in many ways, but none more important than the Alumni Scholarship Program. As UTSA continues to attract a record number of students who will become the next leaders of our community, the need for scholarships has never been greater. Since 1982, the Association has awarded more than $1 million in scholarship funds to more than 385 UTSA students. The association has come a long way since awarding the first $250 scholarship for textbooks. The UTSA Alumni Association Endowment Fund has surpassed $1 million. We will award more than $150,000 in scholarships this year.

Scholarships are only possible with funds generated from Alumni Association membership dues and donations. Through the generosity and support of alumni, the doors of higher education are opened to deserving UTSA students so they may all achieve their life's dreams.

Important: The deadline for all students to apply for the Alumni Scholarship is February 15 of each year.  Alumni Association scholarship monies are distributed through the UTSA Bursar's Office using a two-part distribution. Funds are distributed Fall & Spring semesters only. Funds are available the week before final tuition payment is due.
