ACC College Connection Scholarship

***********Scholarship Deadline April 1st ***************

It is time once again for seniors who plan on attending Austin Community College to apply for the College Connection Scholarship for the 2015-2016 school year. Each scholarship is $2500 for tuition, fees and books. Students qualify for the scholarship by participating in the College Connection program, holding a 2.25 high school GPA or higher, and submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). An unofficial transcript will need to be submitted.

Students can link to the online application at www.austincc.edu/scholarships  and use their ACCeID and password provided through the College Connection process to log in. After completing a short application and providing an essay, those that qualify will be reviewed for the College Connection Scholarship and any others for which they meet the criteria. We need your assistance to get students to apply by the April 1st deadline. It is our hope that these scholarships continue to open the door to higher education.

As mentioned above, the application is also used to award additional scholarship opportunities to incoming ACC freshmen.  The scholarships listed on the attachment reward students who have successfully mixed academics with extra-curricular, community involvement, and/or employment.  Fifty-three 2014 area high school graduates are currently on scholarship and we hope to award even more for 2015.  There is also a freshman flyer attached.  We would be very appreciative if it could be displayed on your campus.

Round Rock ISD 2015 graduates are also eligible for the Rotary Club of Round Rock scholarships which are each $2500.  Once students declare on their scholarship application that they attend a Round Rock ISD high school, they will be automatically considered for these scholarships.

It is our hope to continually increase the number of scholarship applications we receive from incoming freshmen.  Please let me know if there is anything I can assist with at your school.  I look forward to working with you and we greatly appreciate your assistance with this process each year.  Should you have any questions, feel free to call me at 512-223-7743 or e-mail me at aschuber@austincc.edu.

Sincerely,

Ann Schubert

Powerful Women of Williamson County Scholarship

Scholarship Information

Professional Women of Williamson County
Annual Scholarships
Application deadline is Tuesday March 24, 2015 (Post-marked)

Description:

Professional Women of Williamson County annually awards at least 1-$1,000 traditional scholarship and at least 1-$1,000 non-traditional scholarship. The traditional scholarship is awarded to a Williamson County female high school student entering her first year of college or a state certification program. The non-traditional scholarship is awarded to a female resident of Williamson County pursuing a professional degree program or a state certification program.

The amount of scholarships awarded is dependent on several factors including the number of memberships in PWoW and donations from local businesses.  In 2014 we awarded $10,000 and our goal for 2015 is to award $15,000 in traditional and non-traditional scholarships.

General Criteria:
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of:
  • In order to better understand your educational goals and how this scholarship might help you achieve them, write a 750 to 1,000 word essay on leadership—why you think your life experiences so far have allowed you to exercise leadership first hand, and in light of those experiences of leadership, how your future educational pursuits will enhance your leadership skills and talents so as to serve the needs of our local and global communities through your chosen field of study. As part of your essay, tell us what skills, entrepreneurial endeavors or technology you have utilized to exercise and expand your skills as a team leader, and how the next step in your education will assist you in further developing those skills.
  • Two reference Letters. They can be from education, employment or community service contacts. These letters must be post-marked by the deadline of this scholarship.
  • A listing of prior academic achievements and/or work history.
  • A listing of extra-curricular activities and/or community involvement.

The PWOW Scholarship Committee, along with members of the PWOW Board of Directors, will review the application packets and select the scholarship winners. The scholarship recipients will be notified by email or phone and the award will be given during the annual PWOW Scholarship Luncheon on the 3rd Wednesday in April each year.

Award Value:
Scholarships are typically $500 - $1,000 in value and are for tuition, books and supplies. Checks will be made payable to the school/program of attendance. The recipient will forfeit the scholarship if it is not used by December 31 of the year of the award.

Eligibility:
Open to all Williamson county female residents. Members of the Professional Women of Williamson County and their direct family members are not eligible to receive either of the scholarships.
