| LYLE ENGINEERING CAMP AT SMU The Lyle School of Engineering at SMU offers summer camp programs for students in Engineering for students entering 7th through 12th grades and CSI camp for students entering the 6th and 7th grades. Camps provide a creative environment for students to learn and apply their knowledge. ENGINEERING SUMMER CAMP FOR 11th & 12th GRADE STUDENTS This residential camp is designed to give students who are interested in pursuing higher education and careers in STEM fields an opportunity to live on campus in residence halls; be mentored by representatives from the SMU Lyle faculty, students and staff; and participate in panel and group discussions while working on a real world, hands-on design project in SMU's Deason Innovation Gym. Cost: $975 (includes room and all meals) Application: The camp will be open to all female and male students who will be entering the 11th and 12th grades in Fall 2015. Student participants must have also completed or plan to complete Algebra II in 11th grade, in addition to completing at least one science lab-based course prior to the beginning of camp. Apply here Session 1: 11th/12th Girls June 15th - June 19th (5 days and 4 nights) Session 2: 11th/12th Boys June 22nd - June 26th (5 days and 4 nights) ENGINEERING SUMMER CAMP FOR 7th - 10th GRADE STUDENTS This day program is designed for girls and boys entering 7th through 10th grades in Fall 2015. Students will explore disciplines of engineering offered at the Lyle School of Engineering: electrical, mechanical, civil and environmental engineering through hands-on, interactive projects. This camp is for students who have an interest in engineering, but not an expertise. By the end of camp, the students will have a solid foundation on which to build upon and encourage them to engage more actively in their math and science classes upon their return to school. Eligibility: Camp is open to all girls and boys who will be entering the 7th, 8th, 9th, or 10th grades in Fall 2015. *Please note that the same material will be presented at both sessions per grade level. Guest speakers include an FBI Agent, local Police, Dallas Explorers, K-9 Unit, SWAT Team, NamUS, Texas Rangers, and a Psychophysiologist. Campers participate in Face, Speech Iris Recognition, Fingerprint Dusting and Sensor labs, Paper Chromatography, Bone Identification, DNA Extraction and Electrophoresis, a GPS Activity and the Psychology of Deception. Eligibility: Camp is open to all girls and boys who will be entering the 6th and 7th grades in Fall 2015. *Please note that the same material, as in the past, will be presented during all weeks.
